Although in Uaro-Ana women engage in a variety of activities, such as collecting and cultivating seaweed and some fishing and horticultural activities, women are always engaging in the weaving activities that have become a tradition of their grandparents. It is made of palm leaves and they add natural colour made of materials taken from the nature makes the products more beautiful. The products can be used as gifts to give to friends or family, for horticultural activities and cultural ceremonies. It is very easy for women to weave these products because it has become a basic skill for women in Uaro-Ana.
Group Profile
Established in 2013, in the village of Uaru-Ana, Biqueli, has 10 members, Sra. Talita dos Santos. They learned to weave when they were young. They weave to continue traditional traditions but also to sell so that they can generate income to provide for the needs of the family.
The Bible name Elsadae mean that “the greatest of all” and the group chose this with the aim of strengthening their faith and also to get graces for everything they do and also because they are very involved in religious activities.
The group is located in the village of Uaro-Ana, Bikeli, Atauro and can be accessed it by transports such as motorcycle and car or by local boats because it is near the beach or by telephone.
