About

Product: Wooven products
In order to continue the tradition of weaving, the Talitakum group also always produces a variety of products that were used for different events; some are used for daily activities, cultural ceremonies and others. The group does not use colour or making the products they produce more original and naturally beautiful in the eyes of people. In order to make these products, it is only necessary to have the palm leaves and to weave they only need simple equipment such as knife and wire.
Group Profile
The Talitakum group has been established by women in Uaro-Ana for a long time and the name Talitakum is taken from the Bible that means “Wake up.” They have chosen this name to encourage and motivate them to wake up and walk in the way of God. The group comprises 12 members (all women). Although the group has a large number of people, it is very organised and they meet each week to organise their activities such as collecting palm leaves, cleaning, weaving and selling in their centre or elsewhere.
There are group products and individual products. Similarly, the group also produces a variety of products, such as mats, place mats, baskets, boxes, flowers and others.
The group is located in the villages of Uaro-Ana, Bikeli, Atauro and can be accessed it by transports such as motorcycle and car or by local boats because it is near the beach or by telephone.
